Terms of Service

Last updated October 14, 2026.

These terms are an agreement between you and ChessStats (“we”), which operates ChessStats.gg (the “Service”) from the United States. By using the Service you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. Questions: contact@chessstats.gg.

1. Your account

You can create an account if you are 13 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password secure.

2. Fair play

Do not use the Service during a game you are playing; that is cheating under the rules of Chess.com, Lichess and most events, and following those rules is your responsibility. Reports are statistics, not cheat detection: do not present them as evidence that anyone cheated, and do not use them to harass anyone.

3. Subscription

The Service is a paid subscription at the price shown at checkout. It renews automatically and your payment method is charged each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, but if we cannot produce your first report, we refund you. If we change the price, we will email you at least 7 days before it applies to your next billing period, so you can cancel first.

4. Snapshots of other players

Subscribers can buy a report on another chess username for a one-time fee shown before payment. It covers the games available when you buy it and does not update. If we cannot produce it, we refund you; once delivered, it is non-refundable.

5. Acceptable use

Do not scrape or bulk-download the Service, use it or its content to train AI models or build competing products, resell its reports, get around its limits or security, or use it unlawfully. We may set reasonable usage limits.

6. Ownership

The Service, including its software, design, and the reports and statistics it produces, belongs to us. This does not give us ownership of third-party game data or other material owned by others (see Attributions). You may use reports for your own non-commercial chess study. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely.

7. Chess.com and Lichess

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Chess.com or Lichess. We use the game data they publish, and we are not responsible if they change or limit it.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Deleting ends your access at once and erases your account data, with every backup copy gone within 30 days (see Privacy Policy). It does not refund the remainder of the period you paid for; to keep access until that period ends, cancel instead of deleting. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Sections 5, 6 and 9 to 13 survive termination.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Reports are automated estimates and may contain errors.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or mandatory consumer rights where you live.

11. Indemnity

You agree to cover claims against us that arise from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Service.

12. Changes and general

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify account holders by email at least 7 days before it takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. We may also change the Service itself, add or remove features, or stop offering it. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over the Service.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States. Nothing in them takes away any right you have under the consumer law of the country where you live that cannot be given up by agreement.
