Chess.com vs Lichess ratings
Below 2000, Lichess ratings are generally higher for comparable players: about +452 at Chess.com 100 and +166 at 1600 in blitz. The gap closes and disappears between 2000 and 2067, where the two rating scales cross.
Why the two ladders differShow less
Ratings are relative to the player pool, not universal measures of skill. Lichess and Chess.com use different rating systems, different starting conditions, and very different player populations. For example, the median blitz rating is 485 on Chess.com and 1447 on Lichess.
That means there is no reliable rule like “subtract 250 from your Lichess rating.” The gap changes across the rating curve and gets much smaller at higher levels. Around 2000, the systems are nearly aligned: Lichess 2000 ≈ Chess.com 2000 blitz / 1990 rapid.
These conversions are population averages, not exact predictions for individual players. Players at the same rating can differ substantially in accuracy, blunder rate, style, and other measures of strength. A personal report looks at where your actual play falls within that range.
Our conversion curves are based on 285,178 Chess.com games and 217,765 Lichess games across blitz and rapid.
